TWO former schoolmates are hoping to form an association for old boys and girls of Sandown Court school.

Terry Deacon and Andrew Leach, both 62, were pupils from 1960 to 1965 and recently met up after 47 years. They now want to reunite other former pupils from the school in Blackhurst Road.

They have organised a reunion evening at The Robin Hood in Sandhurst Road on September 4 to which anybody who attended the school is welcome.

Sandown Court became Tunbridge Wells High School and is now Skinners' Kent Academy.

Their memories include a day trip to a "boiling hot" Calais and not being able to take off their blazers and hats, and a Friday night after-school club during which pupils would dance to "one Telstar record on a gramophone".

The pair hope as the associat-ion grows pupils from all three schools will become members.

It is 50 years since Sandown Court opened and the two men hope to plant a memorial monkey puzzle tree, their school emblem, in the grounds.

The reunion evening starts at 7.30pm. People are welcome to turn up but should preferably contact Mr Leach on 01580 201850 or Mr Deacon on 07766 219949 beforehand.
