Drink-drive shame policewoman Dione Mayfield is dismissed for gross misconduct
A SENIOR policewoman convicted of drink-driving and failing to stop after an accident has been sacked.
Dione Mayfield, 32, of Rainham, was found guilty in May of having 103 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – almost three times the legal limit – when her vehicle clipped a parked car in Bloors Lane, Rainham, at 8am on September 26, 2009.

Sacked: Temporary police inspector Dione Mayfield
Mayfield, a temporary inspector at the time of the incident, had denied the charges but was found guilty by district judge Michael Kelly.
She was fined £1,000, ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work as punishment and disqualified from driving for two years.
She was suspended from her post after her arrest and dismissed for gross misconduct on July 8.
Mayfield had told Maidstone Magistrates' Court she had been drinking until 5am with a plumber or electrician she knew only as Jason, whom she had met in The Cricketers in Rainham.
She claimed he had been at the wheel at the time of the accident, but he had run off after pulling up in a road nearby.
Investigators could only find Mayfield's DNA on cigarette butts taken from her house and on glasses and a bottle she said they had shared.
After the case Assistant Chief Constable Andy Adams said: "No one is above the law and anyone who fails to uphold it must face the consequences."
