Dover musician writes tribute to home town
A MUSICIAN and writer who grew up in Dover has written an album in tribute to his home town.
Alan Clayson, 61, who was born in Union Road – now Coombe Valley Road – in 1951, has honoured the main thoroughfare along Capel-Le-Ferne on the final track, The Old Dover Road.

The bass player had many brushes with the stars in the 1960s and 70s, meeting the likes of Elvis Costello, and is the official biographer of Frank Zappa.
But Mr Clayson, who now lives in Berkshire, said one of his most proud achievements was when, at the age of nine, he swam 1,000 yards across Dover harbour.

He left the town at the age of seven but used to come back every summer to visit his uncle.
Those holidays of his childhood have been a great influence on the material for his new album, One Dover Soul.
Mr Clayson said: "You can take the man out of Dover, but you can't take the Dover out of the man."
