Dover birthing unit re-opens
THE birthing unit at Buckland Hospital has reopened.
The centre was closed on January 27 for repair work to its water pipes.
The discovery of asbestos insulation around some pipe-work meant work took longer than expected.
Repairs to fix the broken pipe work were completed late last night and all asbestos insulating material around the pipes has now been removed.
Lindsey Stevens, Head of Midwifery for the Trust, said: "We are delighted that we are back in business and very grateful to all those who worked so hard to get us up and running so quickly. We are happy to welcome the mothers back to the birthing centre again."
