THE poor weather didn't dampen Dover Rowing Club's spirits last Saturday when they held their annual rowing regatta.

Getting the racing underway were the mixed under-16 quad sculls and leading the charge for Dover in third were the crew of Harry Platts, Robin Mccorkell, Sam Flaherty, Chris Hall and their cox Emma Rees.

In dominant form were the men's junior four who started as they meant to go in Worthing previously.

Ben Embleton, Brendan Egan, Lee Wilkinson, Carl Wheeler and Matt Woods (cox) won by more than 10 boats lengths in a commanding lead to the finish.

Making their racing debut for 2012 were the ladies novice four crew of Lizzie Foley, Sam Nash, Maria West-Burrows, debutant Debbie Jupe and Josh Bevan (cox). They came in sixth which was a fine effort.

Earning the club valuable points were the super vets (veteran 50+) crew of Paul Scrivener, Nick Bailey, Jane Shorter, Keith Thomasson and Matt Woods (cox) who came third.

Scrivener made the transition from the four to the scull for the novice event and in very difficult conditions he made a valiant effort as he gained his first ever win in a sculling boat.

In the men's junior pairs Carl Wheeler and Lee Wilkinson experienced some bad luck from start to finish but they did manage to finish third.

The men's novice four were in their debut outing and Harry Platts, Robin Mccorkell, Sam Flaherty, Chris Hall and Chris Price (cox) finished sixth.

Dover Rowing Club wish to express their thanks to all the people that supported the event and helped make it possible.
