A SITTINGBOURNE man has been found guilty of beating his dog to death with a claw hammer in his back garden.

Christopher Dance, of Knightsfield Road, Quinton, had denied beating his bull terrier cross breed dog Charley to death last May and failing to protect a friend's Jack Russell dog who died following a fight with Charley.

However, the 23 year old, who has since moved to Maidstone, was convicted by magistrates following a five-hour trial yesterday.

The case was adjourned until Wednesday, March 3 when he will be sentenced.

“I'd love to have heard the mitigation put forward by the waste of oxygen's defence counsel. Lucky old Maidstone another mouth breathing unemployable oaf en route.”
