HUNTING A LAUGH: Reginald D Hunter is coming to the Leas Cliff Hall
Georgia-born Hunter first made his mark in the UK in 1998, when he was a finalist in So You Think You're Funny?
He has been appearing in acclaimed one-man shows at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2002, when I Said What I Said was nominated for the Perrier award for best newcomer.
He was nominated for the main prize in 2003 for White Woman and in 2005 for A Mystery Wrapped In A Nigga.
He was also nominated for best headliner in the Chortle Awards in 2004 and 2007.
A spokesman for the Leas Cliff Hall said: "Following a phenomenally successful tour, Reginald D Hunter returns with his five-star show.
"In just over a decade since he began performing, he has become one of the UK comedy industry's best-known and most distinctive performers.
"His work is often brutally honest, frequently controversial but always meticulously measured and thought out.
"He is one of the few performers to have been nominated for the highly coveted main Perrier Award in three consecutive years and has become a well-known face on primetime television shows such as Live At The Apollo and QI, and is a frequent guest on Have I Got News For You."
The Sunday Rimes said that his "presence and intelligence make him one of the most brilliantly unpredictable comics in the country", while the Guardian said "his is a perfect set".
The Independent described him as "candid to the point of confession… even-handed but provocative… a cocktail with quite a kick", and the Times praised him as "excitingly intelligent… comedy from the head and the heart, delivered with charm and control".
Tickets, which cost from £26.25, are available from the box office on 08448 713015 or via www.leascliffhall.co.uk
