This is Kent

IT is mathematically possible for Cowdrey to secure the Kent Regional Premier Division title with victory tomorrow.

After last week's game at Westgate-on-Sea was cancelled due to rain, the runaway leaders welcome second-placed RACS to the Swanmead. Twenty points – the win and maximum bowling points – will clinch the title. Fifteen more will ensure at least second place and promotion to the Kent League.

Old Elthamians development: 164ao

Cowdrey development: 195-9

Cowdrey won by 31 runs

THE Cowdrey development team visited Old Elthamians on Sunday and returned with a victory by 31 runs, their third win from five Aero Development League Division Two fixtures played this season.

Cowdrey, who chose to bat first, began slowly and lost both openers cheaply. Jack Southwart, making a solid 63, increased the rate with Barny Scott (16) and then with Will Needham (38).

Toward the end, Glen Warner hit a very quick 33 and the innings closed on 195-9 after the 40 overs.

Following the break, Old Elthamians began their reply against a very young Cowdrey attack. The score ticked along at around four runs per over, but the visitors were taking wickets at vital times before any of the batsmen could get to grips with the bowling and the home team were finally all out in the 40th over for 164.

Gary Marshall collected 4-22 from 7.4 overs, while three of the 15-year-olds were also among the wicket-takers, with leg spinner Ollie Shimmin taking 2-27 and Joel Scott and Nick Farr capturing one each.

Hadlow Sunday: 118-5

Cowdrey Sunday: 117ao

Cowdrey lost by 5 wickets

COWDREY Sunday batted first in this friendly at Hadlow and were bowled out for a disappointing 117 inside 35 overs. The top scorers were Richard Marsh (28) and Ben Greehy (18no).

In reply, Hadlow lost two early wickets, but Dirk Nell (62no) steered them home to victory inside 24 overs. For the visiting Cowdrey team, Fred Greehy (2-12) returned the best bowling figures, but it was Hadlow's day by five wickets.
