THE parents of a cot-death baby are preparing for a sponsored walk next week.

Darren Marborough, 28, and Rebecca Barrett, 20, hope to raise £5,000 for the Foundation for Study into Infant Death charity, by walking from the clock tower in Herne Bay, to the clock tower in Margate.

Mr Marlborough, said: "This was a tragic accident and natural cot death. This is why we are doing the walk to help raise money. The FSID gives you a mat which lets off an alarm when your baby stops breathing for more than ten seconds."

Mr Marlborough said the organisation also sends parents on a course, teaching them how to give first aid. More than 100 people are expected to take part in the 15-mile walk at 10am on Saturday, May 15. There is also a sponsored head shave, body wax and raffle at 6pm on Sunday, May 23, at the Four Fathoms pub in Herne Bay. Anyone interested in attending any of the events can call Darren on 07770 522092.
