DOVER TOWN

Nigel Collor, Conservative, is currently the district portfolio holder for access.He has worked on projects including asking for safety measures on the Dover to Deal road and bringing the high speed train service to Dover.Born and brought up in Dover Mr Collor has worked for hovercraft and ferry companies.The 63-year-old has recently been chosen as the new chairman of the Dover and Deal Conservative Association and says the party "intends to win" the next general election.

Gordan Cowan, Labour, currently serves as a county, district and town councillor.He is married with two children and four grandchildren.The former Royal Mail worker and his wife Jeanette are registered foster carers.

Roger Frayne, Conservative, is a district councillor and the lone Tory voice on Dover Town Council.He lives with his teenage daughter Astrid.The former accountant has worked as a pirate DJ and was the ground announcer for Dover football club.

John Mackie, Liberal Democrat, is married and has two daughters.The Scotsman, who has campaigned to save play areas such as Elms Vale, says KCC needs careful control of finances and an overhaul of senior staff salaries.

Bill Newman, Labour, is a county and district councillor.Before retirement he taught at Archers Court and Astor schools and after retirement he was appointed as Deputy Lieutenant of Kent.

Dean Stiles, Liberal Democrat, is a freelance journalist. He has lived in Dover for four years.Mr Stiles says Dover must get a higher priority from Kent County Council.

DOVER WEST

Pam Brivio, Labour , has been nominated by Dover and Deal MP Gwyn Prosser. She currently serves on Dover town Council and is a member of the Dover District Planning Forum.

John Buckley is the only UKIP candidate for the Dover district.

Bryan Cope, Conservative, is currently serving the county council. He is a school governor for Priory West and Dover Grammar School for Boys.He is also chairman of Dover Municipal Charities.

Peter Lodge, Liberal Democrat, represents Whitfield on the district council. The 29-year-old serves as a Merchant Navy officer for P&O.

DEAL

Terry Birkett, Labour, currently represents Deal at county council level. He is an ex-miner with two daughters and three grandchildren.

Mike Eddy, Labour, is also currently a county councillor for Deal and serves on the district council.He has been leader of the Kent Labour Group since 2001. Mr Eddy is also an archeologist and linguist.

Antony Hook, Liberal Democrat, is a barrister. The 29-year-old former grammar pupil is also standing in the European elections.

Julie Rook, Conservative, serves on the district council. The mum-of-two is a rising star of the party and is a figurehead for youth in the district. She is governor of Sandown and Parochial schools and a trustee for Deal Museum Trust.

Kit Smith, Conservative, moved to Walmer with wife Pat in 2002 after thirty years in Northbourne. They have two married sons and four granddaughters.The consultant and former farm manager rejoined the district council in 2005. He had previously stood down in 2000 after serving for 14 years.

John Trickey, Liberal Democrat, runs a sportswear company which sponsors the Deal Sunday Laegue. He resurrected the Deal carnival and formed the Deal marshals. Mr Trickey is standing for election for the first time.

DOVER NORTH

Reg Hansell, Independents Party of Dover District, is best known as a campaigner for a Dover hospital. The former civil engineer lives with wife Wendy in Shepherdswell.He was formerly a member of the Labour Party.

Steve Manion, Conservative, runs training courses in Resource Management. The district councillor has published journals on the subject in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand.He is also a lay minister and a governor for Northbourne CEP School.

Eileen Rowbotham, Labour, serves on the county council. She moved to Kent in 1967 with her husband who started working in the ferry industry. . Eileen was elected Mayor of Deal in 1994. She has a particular interest in the coalfield community and is a member of organisations including Greenpeace.

Sheila Smith, Liberal Democrat, would like to see more affordable housing for first time buyers. The Eastry parish councillor helped save the village post office and is a member of the Village of the Year team which won the top title in 2005.She is involved in Neighbourhood Watch and the Youth Action Group.

SANDWICH

Bryan Curtis, Liberal Democrat, is a member of Wingham Parish Council. The driving instructor has campaigned for better public transport and 20mph speed limits in rural areas.

Iain Fairweather, Labour, was born in Alyth Perthshire. He began work as an apprentice salesman before joining the regular army (Royal Signals) in 1955 and serving for nine years.He also worked as a customs officer before retiring in 1992.Iain was a National Trust volunteer, working as an assistant warden at Langdon Cliffs.He is a member of the Dover and East Kent Scottish Society.

Leyland Ridings, Conservative, currently serves on the county council as the cabinet member for children and education. The chartered accountant, who was born in Australia, is a governor for Canterbury Christ Church University, Sandwich Technology School and Preston County Primary School.He is a member of Council of the Order of St John, the TA and the Princes Trust, in Kent, and a Trustee of the Open College Network, Kent and Medway.
