Cop that says Frankie
DEFENDER Frankie Chappell's stoppage time header gave Folkestone Invicta a hard earned 1-0 win over a physical and vastly experienced Met Police side at the Buzzlines Stadium on Tuesday.
In a tough game where many home supporters would not have been unhappy with a point, chances were few and far between.
Josh Burchell went close soon after the interval and James Everitt almost got on the end of a long clearance from keeper Jack Delo before Met keeper James Courtenage - on loan from Staines - dived at his feet to smother the ball and avert danger.
Folkestone's own superb defence which conceded just seven goals in 14 league games kept the visitors fairly quiet with only lively George Jermy causing them problems.
And with the clock showing - at least - 94 minutes, Chappell looped his header from a Jimmy Jackson corner over the hapless Courtenage to send home fans happy.
This victory against tough, streetwise opponents should now put these young Invicta stars in good heart for their top of the table clash with leaders Worthing at the Buzzlines on Saturday.
