STAFF have struggled back to work as the big freeze slowly turns to a thaw.

Train operator Southeastern managed a full timetable after days of restricted services, although some trains were shorter than normal due to damage caused to carriages in the icy conditions.

Car owners also spent the weekend retrieving vehicles abandoned in the snow, with some finding they had already been removed to compounds by police.

They faced huge bills to release their cars.

Most schools in Medway opened, with AS-Level exams due to start today. Only a few primary schools remained shut due to unsafe conditions.

Tell us your stories from the big freeze. Did you leave your car and walk miles home? Did it you get a huge bill to collect your car? Or were you one of the brave people who walked to work? Email newsdesk.medway@krnmedia.co.uk.
