COFFEE, cake and community spirit were all present at a social event in Pembury organised by an independent care provider.

Two support workers from TerraBlu organised a coffee morning for 18 Pembury clients and guests at Sunhill Court retirement home in the High Street.

Nimet Yerlikaya and Katie Romik came up with the project to reduce the feeling of isolation felt by those living on their own.

Managing director of TerraBlu Richard Gould said: "It was great to see the enthusiasm that Nimet and Katie showed in getting this event off the ground, and in seeing the support that our clients in Pembury gave to the event."

The company, started by Mr Gould in 2002 and based in Calverley Park Crescent, is an approved home care provider for Kent County Council but also offers services for private clients.
