Club adds Eastern Counties title to silverware
KINGS boxers returned from their Eastern Counties title match-ups in Leighdown with the goods.
After landing the Surrey and Southern Counties belts over the last few weeks, Benny Friend and Jessie and Frank Smith won comfortable points decisions.
Elsewhere, 13-year-old Michael Hennessy was on the wrong end of another dubious decision. According to the team, the judges said the ferocious body-puncher would have won had they been scoring by professional criteria, but that they aren't allowed to score body shots in the amateurs in the same vein.
Reportedly the Essex-based coaches of his opponent admitted they too were surprised by the result.

"I think we need to talk about how to get the best out of Michael," said coach Derek Rawlins. "He punches to the body so well but they don't score it - he has a terrific left jab but probably doesn't use it enough."
The Kings boys will be back in action at the weekend at Bodyshot Gym in Dartford, where a full day of action will be bolstered by a BBQ and various activities.
Ricky Simms and Freddie Newbury will represent the club on June 9 alongside 34-year-old super-heavyweight Frank O'Reilly, fresh from a two-year competitive break.
