Chats hit back for injury time victory
Croydon Athletic 3 Chatham Town 4
LAST time Chatham visited Croydon Athletic they lost 6- 2. Some pundits were perhaps expecting something similar seeing as how the latter are spending a small fortune and had started the season with a free-scoring bang.
They went 3-1 up, too, and the picture looked pretty bleak for manager Alex O'Brien and his team.
But in an astonishing about-turn Matt Solly and Lee Barnett added to the Brendan Cass penalty converted earlier and made it all square at 3-3.
Which is how it stayed until stoppage time, when Cass struck again to seal the spoils and lift his side up to seventh place in the Ryman League (Division 1 South) table.
Chats take a break from the league on Saturday, when they take on Sussex County Leaguers Eastbourne United in an FA Cup preliminary round tie at Maidstone Road. Kick-off is 3pm as usual.
