NEWSHOUNDS from St Mary's Platt are celebrating success in the National Parish Magazine Awards.

The Village News team was delighted to make it into the top three out of 620 entries in the 2011 awards, and it also won the best editor category.

Magazine editor Jane Sankey said: "It is a privilege to work with so many people who willingly contribute, or help print, collate or deliver the magazine.

"Without them it would not be possible to produce the village news."

Judges described the publication as "a nicely put-together magazine" among a strong short-list of finalists.

People of all ages help to deliver St Mary's Platt Village News, including an eight-year-old who has already been delivering it for three years.
