Daniel Joslin from Canterbury was sentenced at Old Bailey
The court heard how Joslin attempted to befriend a 15-year-old girl in Larkfield on social networking sites. This later escalated into sexual activity with the victim and culminated when he emailed her over a hundred photos and films depicting images of child abuse.
Joslin had attempted to use many false names in order to evade identification, but the net closed around him when the victim's mother reported the matter to police and officers traced his computer and social networking accounts.

Investigating officer DC Michael Brown says: "Joslin is a prolific offender who has groomed and assaulted a vulnerable child. He has a history of avoiding the consequences of his actions, and I am pleased that we have been able to bring him to justice. This was a meticulous investigation carried out by the Child Exploitation Investigation Team, which was able to link Joslin to the various false identities he used to carry out his offences. This is an example of the determination of Kent Police to seek out those who seek to harm children, regardless of the methods used by offenders to avoid capture."
In addition to the custodial sentence, Joslin was also handed an extended licence of 5 years, once released from prison, while a Sexual Offences Prevention Order will also restrict his access to children and the internet.
