Claire Vidler, who co-owns the venue in Palace Street started the Macmillan fundraising group in January along with Liz Flynn and Fiona Rawlinson.

This will be group's first fund-raising event.

Claire, from Ash, said: "Our family has first-hand experience of cancer.

"While I was living at home my stepfather had stomach cancer. Through this I understand the need for support, not just for the cancer patient but for the entire family.

"Macmillan provides this support."

Suggested donations of £5 to Macmillan will be accepted on the door.

Laura Thornton, Macmillan's fundraising manager, said: "Groups and events like this are really important to us. We are hoping to see lots of people supporting this comedy night.

"The money raised will help us to reach more people affected by cancer."
