FOLLOWING the success of Cliftonville culture cafe Moonbow Jakes, curator John McKiernan is opening a theatre space next door.

The Eaterie, a washed-out restaurant overlooking the Lido, has been renovated to become 'Theatre'.

The venue will provide yet another blank canvas for artists to perform and inspire other talented locals and visitors.

More than a dozen artists are coming to Cliftonville for a new series of performances and workshops starting next Saturday.

Classical composer Julian Jacobson will perform a piano recital and masterclass alongside experimental musicians The Dead Rat Orchestra.

A display and workshop by Deco Dance will show off their moves to budding dancers.

Cooking demos from top chefs, language-themed art and poetry and Russian-Czech performance art duo Akleriah are also scheduled.

The theatre will run alongside Moonbow Jakes until September 26 and talks are already being held with local artists who want to take over the space at the end of the summer.
