Business is bringing in the tuk tuk
A RESIDENT and businessman who rescued a failing company from closure plans to introduce tuk tuks – three-wheeled motor vehicles used as taxis in the Far East – to Kings Hill.
Hugh Furness, who runs the third largest barcoding and IT business in the world, has bought the independent post and packing service in Liberty Square, Kings Hill, after it was forced to close due to lack of finances in May.

He has reopened the firm, re-employed some of the staff, and announced that he hopes to bring in the three-wheelers for local deliveries and collections.

He said: "I have lived in Kings Hill for ten years and am very involved with the community, so I knew how the closure was affecting people."
He approached Kings Hill developer Liberty Property Trust to enquire about taking over the lease on the premises.
He said: "They were so incredibly helpful and supportive that the deal was done, and the business up and running, within two weeks."
