BIG band sounds are remarkably popular across the isle, bringing images of jitterbugging the evening away during the blackout and the Blitz of the 1930s and 1940s.

One well-known seven-piece vintage dance band, The Foxtrot Serenaders, makes a welcome return to Broadstairs’ Memorial Theatre in Hilderstone this month. Their show

On The Air is a musical celebration of the radio stars of seven or eight decades ago, featuring the music of Bing Crosby, Al Bowlly, Vera Lynn, Jack Hylton, the legendary

Glenn Miller and other famous names from the past.

The show, part of the Sarah Thorne Theatre Club programme, will be performed on Sunday, February 21, at 6.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 for club members and £12 for non-members from the box office on 08452 626263 and seats can be reserved at info@sarahthorne-theatreclub.co.uk.
