PAUL Booth's stunning ninth minute goal was enough to secure Tonbridge Angels a win over Kingstonian at the Longmead.

The visitors came into the game in second place, but were never allowed to settle as Scott Kinch, Anthony Storey and Lee Minshull were superb in midfield.

After starting the match well, Angels took the lead and what a strike it was. A long ball was flicked on by Meshach Nugent, which fell at the feet of Booth. From fully 30-yards, the striker unleashed an unstoppable shot, which gave Kingstonian keeper Rob Tolfrey no chance.

Kingstonian did have chances in the first half, Luke Hickie and Bobby Traynor forced Lee Worgan into action. They nearly snatched an equaliser, just before half-time, but Simon Huckle saw his shot clip the crossbar.

The second half didn't really hit the heights of the opening period and became scrappy. Saying that, Kingstonian nearly grabbed a goal back in the 61st minute when Angels made a hash of clearing the ball in their own area, but substitute John Fletcher somehow put his shot over the bar from three-yards.

Moments later, Kingstonian were reduced to 10-men when Lee Hall was sent off for his crude challenge on Minshull.

With a man advantage, Angels should have made the game safe, but chances went begging. Substitute Adam Burchell, on two occasions, and Minshull missed good opportunities.

Luckily for the home side, they didn't come back to haunt them and they held on for the win.

Kingstonian's miserable afternoon was compounded when Hickie was sent off after the game had ended, for presumably something he said to the referee.

Angels visit Margate on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm, and live updates will be available from 7.35pm. Visit www.thisiskent.co.uk/angelslivematch.
