Bewl Water fishing report
ANGLING
THE good fishing continued at Bewl with fish remaining in the upper layers and coupled with the cooler water temperature this meant that they were spread around the lake.
Best areas for boats include Canoe Club Corner, Chingley, the cages, Bramble Bay and the Ferry Point area where the fish are close in to the bank feeding on corixa and shield beetles.
Anglers have also had success at The Nose, Hatheralls and Bewl Straight.
Bank fishing has also improved during the past week with anglers catching at Bramble Bay, Monty's Seat, Ferry Point and the Nose.Rod average for the week was 3.69.
A wide range of flies have been successful, including Daddies, Hoppers, Invictas, Diawl Bachs and Wingless Wickhams.
Fishing was excellent for the England Ladies Charity Pairs Match on Saturday October 4, with a rod average of 4.61.
The competition was won by Vince Brooks and Mick Dwyer with a total bag weight of 39lb 8oz. Vince, whose bag included a 6lb rainbow, caught on a minkie, was top man and Joan Russell with eight fish for 16lb 9.5 oz was top lady. £950 was raised on the day.
