"He has performed his Symphonic Beatles arrangements with orchestras all over the world to audiences in the tens of thousands."
Clark, famous for his Hooked On Classics series which achieved success on both sides of the Atlantic, was made president of the English Pops Orchestra last year.
The spokesman added: "He considers himself to be a musician and entertainer, not an educator, and he has been singularly successful in bringing classical music to a much broader audience."
