Chatham Town 3 Met Police 1

CHATHAM moved up to fourth place in the Ryman League South Division 1 table following Tuesday night’s defeat of Metropolitan Police in a rearranged game at Maidstone Road.

Goals from Ray Powell (14 minutes), Lee Barnett (69) and sub Dean Ascheri (71) settled the issue, although home supporters were given something to worry about when Barnett was carried off on a stretcher late in the game.

The extent of his injury isn’t know yet, but any absence would be crucial since he is a key player.

Next up for  Chats is a Saturday visit to Mertsham, who didn’t have the best of nights as they were hammered 6-0 at Fleet.

Chatham team: Ruddy, Binks (Ascheri), Proberts, Solly, Avery, Payne, Davey (Green), Potter, Cass, Barnett (Lyons), Powell. Unused subs: Dodsworth, Ellis.
