Bank fund to help local charities
NATWEST, part of The Royal Bank of Scotland, has announced details of a new fund to support charities and projects in local communities.
The bank is to create 380 individual funds of £5,000, each of which will be assigned to a cluster of six NatWest branches – Crowborough, Pembury, Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Southborough and Tunbridge Wells representing one of the groupings.
Customers and members of the local community will be able to nominate a good cause or project by visiting their NatWest branch or by logging on to: natwest.com/community fund. Once all the nominations have been received, a panel consisting of representatives from the bank, local people and community figures will select three charities/projects.
The community will then be invited to vote for their favourite, with the most popular receiving a £3,000 grant and the two runners-up each receiving £1,000.
Paul Wheeler, regional director for Kent, said: "NatWest has a long and proud history of helping good causes and our £5,000 Community Fund will bring this support to a new level. By asking local people to nominate and vote for community charities/projects which are important to them, the fund will be directly supporting the communities."

“Heres a suggestion. How about Gnatwest and RBS doing what they are supposed to be doing and providing credit to SME's in the local area ?
Despite the government backed Enterprise Finance Gaurantee Schemes neither of these banks are supporting the lifeblood of our communities, the small to medium sized businesses that are desperate and at risk of closing for good unless they receive the much needed financial support from their banks.”
