BOWLING MACHINE: Stuart Clark in action for Australia, down at Canterbury, last summer
It will be a case of second time lucky for Clark, who was set to feature as the club's overseas player last summer, before he was recalled by Australia.
The 34-year-old will be available for the first half of the season and will give captain Rob Key another bowling option in his already strong seam attack.
"Stuart is a tremendous character and has the ability and experience that we are looking for," said Graham Johnson, the club's chairman of cricket
"He is a genuine wicket-taker and will bring a great amount to the side. He has a positive outlook and will prove a great addition."
Clark is no stranger to English cricket fans after his exploits in the 2006-07 Ashes whitewash.
He took 26 wickets at an average of 17 and played in the final two Tests of last summer's Ashes series.
This won't be the first time that the Aussie has played English county cricket, he enjoyed spells for Middlesex in 2005 and Hampshire in 2007.
"We are delighted to finally sign Stuart," said Paul Farbrace, Kent's team director.
"He is an attractive signing for us because he is not playing in the Indian Premier League and will be available for the first half of the summer.
"He is an exceptional bowler and will offer a lot; both on and off the field."
