Art for art's sake on an alien landscape
THE art invasion of Margate was fully underway on Sunday as artists continued their series of out-of-this-world events.
The town was the backdrop for the Art Lands on an Alien Landscape programme by Limbo Arts, based in the high street. The curators, Jim Lockey and Katy Norton, say the events were "exploring the relationship between art and Margate, taking place during the opening season of Turner Contemporary".

One of these events, by artist Frog Morris titled The Total Destruction of Margate featured a troupe of costumed sea monsters roaming the sea front.
The event pamphlet describes the monsters as having been "awoken from their slumber by Margate's regeneration projects".
The performance was a part of a series of "happenings" going on throughout the town.
The Art Lands on Alien Landscape festival will conclude this weekend.
