Aldington school fete to be opened by TV celebrity Paul O'Grady

A SCHOOL fete is to be opened by TV celebrity and local resident Paul O'Grady.

Organisers behind Aldington Primary School's Olympic-themed summer fete say Mr O'Grady is expected to attend the event, subject to filming commitments.

Starting at noon on Sunday, July 1, the afternoon fun will begin with the judging of a decorated bike and scooter competition, followed by the Gurkha's pipe and drum band.

Wartime favourites the Swingtime Sweethearts will also be performing, with profits going towards the school.

Pupils are planning to entertain with singing and dancing displays, while there will be attractions such as train rides, a giant bouncy slide, refreshments, a barbecue and bar, face painting and stalls.
