Air to the throne
IT STARTED with Folkestone town centre manager John Barber appealing for help in celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee – and ended with the airshow making a triumphant return.
Katie Shields and Collette Laing from Evention Events originally intended organising a giant tea party in Folkestone this weekend.
But thanks to the hard work they and Mr Barber's group put in, the Red Arrows, Tucano, Spitfires and more swooped back over the seafront again on Saturday.
Ms Laing said: "When Katie and I heard the Red Arrows, we looked at each other and had tears in our eyes.

"We thought 'after everything, it's actually happened'.
"It was May 11 last year when we went into John's office and said we could help, and what started as a tea party turned into the airshow.
"We did work very hard, and we're so grateful to all the people who volunteered to help us – it was all worth it.
"The whole town was buzzing."
Thousands of people flocked to Folkestone on Saturday, for the start of a packed weekend of Jubilee celebrations throughout the district.
