A WAREHOUSE full of lawn mowers was damaged by fire on Monday.

The blaze broke out at noon in Marshwood Business Park, Sturry Road, Sturry.

Thirty-five firefighters from Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay were called to tackle the blaze.

They used six fire engines, a turntable ladder and breathing apparatus to put out the fire.

It is believed the fire started in the roof. No one was in the building at the time.

The unit, near Asda supermarket, is used by Sanctuary Housing to store lawn mowers and maintenance vehicles for properties.

Firefighters spent an hour dousing the flames. The fire is not being treated as suspicious, but police were called to manage the traffic flow.
