With twenty years of dreams under its belt, Disney Land Paris is celebrating its birthday all throughout 2012 with superlative style. Although twenty years may seem more like twenty minutes to some, others find it a majestic period of their childhood where the wonders of the cartoon world became available right upon their very doorstep. Everyone remembers the all-singing-all-dancing postman as he delivered the tickets to children on the television advert; but what else do we remember from all those years ago?
Looking back twenty years to the films in which Disney produced, you will see the second golden era of Walt Disney film. Although classics such as Toy Story and The Lion King were just around the corner, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Rescuers Down Under were all released within the first three years of the nineties. For anyone who found themselves in child form around that period, it really was a time of magic and wonder. There was also another golden era in children’s entertainment as television allowed many kids being able to sit down to satellite television for the first time in history. Channels such as Nickelodeon, Boomerang, and The Disney Channel brought children a whole new world of entertainment and joy. Besides Ren & Stimpy, Recess, The Rugrats and Rocko’s Modern Life what programmes can you remember watching instead of doing your homework?
Besides films and television, a new wave of music also exploded onto the scene which featured many legendary artists such as Nirvana, Radiohead, R.E.M and Blur who would go on to define the decade and become the soundtrack for the nineties which would then follow many children throughout their teenage years. Though all of us who grew up in the colourful and flannelled years of the 1990’s, most of us now find ourselves in the cusp of our twenties and quite often with children of our very own. Thanks to the current economic climate, more and more families are rediscovering the joys of coach tours and trips that can often be cheaper, less stressful and more enjoyable than travelling by air. There are various coach companies operating to France including special Disney coach holidays by National Holidays, and with coach companies reporting a 65% increase in demand, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy a coaching holiday this summer with your family.
It is a little known fact that coaching holidays can actually be more luxurious than going away via aeroplane as various low budget airlines are more interested in getting bums on seats rather than providing quality customer care; coach companies are far better equipped and able to provide you and your family with a comfortable and enjoyable trip. As there are thousands of coach companies out there and they are all competing with each other, every single company now has to make sure that they are providing the best experience for their customers so that they ensure that they return time and time again. Besides avoiding the unsociable hours that plane journeys often provide, it may interest you to know that travelling by coach is also far more environmentally friendly. It is a well known fact that travelling by coach is one of the greenest ways to travel but most people simply aren’t aware that using coach travel actually uses six times less energy than travelling by planes and twice as less energy than travelling by trains.
Even if your children have been to Disneyland Paris before, the great news is that there is a whole range of fantastic events being held throughout the year celebrating the 20th anniversary of the opening.
The new night time show for example combines the wonderful stories of sleeping beauty and Peter Pan to bring your children the beautiful wonders of both tales in an evening of extravagance and magic. As everyone knows, Disneyland Paris is famous for its daily parades which play host to a wonderful ensemble of characters spanning back throughout the history of nearly all the classic Disney films. This year however, the parades have been revamped beyond belief with new stories, colour and magic that neither your little ones or you will forget anytime soon.
